Ontario electricians care!
Recently T. Lloyd Electric Ontario Ltd. proved that in a big way. This Hamilton team gave back to the community by giving of themselves, investing their Saturday morning to replace out-of-date lighting in the Cancer Assistance Program offices.
We interviewed Mark Lloyd, President of T. Lloyd Electric Ontario, about this worthy cause and the role his company played. His company is a member of the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario.
Since 1994, the Cancer Assistance Program has been doing amazing work, offering Hamilton area cancer patients a wide range of services they need in order to continue living in their own homes as their cancer journey progresses, including:
When the Cancer Assistance Program reached out to T. Lloyd Electric for a quote on replacement of their old T8-T12 fluorescent lighting, Mark saw this as a great opportunity to get involved. In partnership with Robertson Electric, who donated the new LED lighting, and Clare’s Interior Supplies, who donated the ceiling tiles, about 18 members of T. Lloyd Electric showed up on a Saturday morning to volunteer their time.

“We replaced all the old fixtures (pot lights, flat panels) with new LED lighting, around 100 fixtures in total. This was about a $15,000 project; all the time and money was donated for a good cause,” he added.
Besides the fact that the new lighting looks and works much better than the old fixtures, the Program will benefit long-term due to reduced energy costs.
“They’re going to save big on their hydro bill. Before, they were paying about $8,500 a year on hydro. Now, they should be saving approximately 30% on their lighting consumption. So the positive effects from this will be felt for many years,” said Lloyd.
Truly the gift that keeps on giving, to a very deserving organization.
Why not volunteer with the Cancer Assistance Program? Spend a few hours or days a week busy with the most rewarding work imaginable – extending a helping hand to individuals and families who are living with cancer. Donations are also always encouraged.

Lloyd sums it up best, “Not everyone has the capacity to do the same level as this job but every little bit makes a difference. If everyone helps or gives back in any way they can, it can change the world.”
